The Advantages of Glass Splashbacks

If you’re looking to protect the walls of your bathroom or kitchen with a modern, creative twist, then glass splashbacks could be the perfect choice for you. Splashbacks are an extremely worthwhile investment both aesthetically and also in terms of hygiene and practicality. For these reasons, it is important that you select the right material for your splashback to ensure you get the most value out of your money.

Glass splashbacks in particular are becoming increasingly more popular, and hold many beneficial qualities that make them a perfect addition to your home. Below you will find just a few examples of why more and more people are coming to Instrument Glasses and choosing glass splashbacks for their kitchens and bathrooms:

Hygienic

Glass is naturally impervious to water, bacteria and grease, so is already very hygienic, but because of its sleek and smooth surface, with no hard to reach nooks or crannies like those on tiled splashbacks, a glass splashback is also very easy to clean. Any stains or marks on the surface of the glass can simply be wiped away with a sponge or a cloth.

Heat and impact resistant

At Instrument Glasses we only ever use toughened (or tempered) glass as standard for all of our splashback installations. Toughened glass is five times more impact resistant than non toughened glass, as a result we believe that toughened glass is the only suitable option for splashbacks. Another benefit is that it is heat resistant to 220°c, and as a result will virtually never break due to heat, so you can safely cook for hours without worrying about the damage you might be inflicting on your splashbacks.

Aesthetic appeal

There is a huge colour selection available for glass splashbacks, including a range of quality paints and colours. This means that you’ll be sure to find a splashback that perfectly matches your decor and have huge fun getting creative in the process!

Glass splashbacks also have light reflecting abilities, giving the impression of making even the smallest kitchen space appear larger and brighter.

Cost-effective

While the initial cost of a glass splashback is likely to outweigh the cost of a tiled splashback, toughened glass is much stronger and more durable than tiles, and after the initial installation, the glass can be left in place for many years. Tiles, however, will need to be regularly re-grouted and retiled to continue looking good over the years, making it a more expensive purchase than a glass splashback in the long run.

Easy to install

The installation process of a glass splashback is significantly easier than that of a tile splashback, requiring less messy equipment like tile cutters and grout to complete the installation.
